D-Link, a worldwide leader in manufacturing of networking, broadband and digital electronic technologies, sponsored the World Cyber Games 2003 USA Final being held in Irvine, California August 19-21, 2003 by providing the networking hardware to run the exciting event. The World Cyber Games USA Final will culminate in revealing the 17 members of Team USA, who will go on to represent the US at the WCG 2003 Grand Final in Korea. D-Link is providing DES-3226SM 24-port managed switches, delivering a high-speed backbone to ensure seamless connectivity for competitors throughout the 3-day USA finals event.
The official games are PC-based versions of: Age of Mythology, FIFA Soccer 2003, Half-Life: Counter-Strike, Star Craft: Brood War, Unreal Tournament 2003, and Warcraft III on the PC platform; as well as Halo on the Xbox.
"Supporting the gaming community has been a key element in our digital home initiative for D-Link,"
said Steven Joe, President of D-Link. "Game tournaments like the World Cyber Games provide an excellent
test for our switches because of the graphic intensive traffic, where users require absolute speed and
maximum throughput and the D-Link switches will easily process the data and deliver smooth imagery without latency."
